Mojokerto – The Mojokerto District Government is targeting three zero HIV/AIDS by 2030. Apart from promoting various programs that are already running, the Mojokerto District Government is also maximizing the role of village heads and village midwives to prevent transmission.
The three zero target includes zero new cases of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), zero deaths due to HIV/AIDS, and zero stigma and discrimination against PLWHA. To achieve this target, the Mojokerto Regency Government is currently also involving the role of all village heads and village midwives to reduce the prevalence of HIV/AIDS transmission.
Not only that, the village heads also received advocacy for budgeting for HIV/AIDS prevention activities in the APBDes. Mojokerto Regent Ikfina Fahmawati also conveyed a number of directions for collaboration to achieve the three zero target. Because the program being rolled out also involves Continuous Comprehensive Service Cadres (LKB).
“Back when I was the head of the Mojokerto Regency PKK Mobilization Team, there was an HIV/AIDS care working group in every village. The aim was to protect vulnerable groups from being infected by people they didn’t expect. Because of the HIV positive condition, we both don’t know,” said Ikfina in her direction. at Jalan Benteng Pancasila Hotel, Mojokerto, Tuesday (5/12/2023).
The number one person in the Mojokerto Regency Government then explained several challenges in preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS. Namely the dating style of today’s teenagers, the majority of whom go too far because of premarital sex, the influence of same-sex relationships, and the rise of infidelity.
“There is only one way that can significantly stop the transmission of HIV/AIDS. That is if men and women only have sex with legal partners,” he explained.
Ikfina explained that currently HIV/AIDS cannot be cured. So PLWHA have to take ARVs for life to survive. Therefore, preventing transmission is very important. Including in the world of education which can be reached through the Youth Counseling Information Center (PIKR).
“Meanwhile, in villages there must be a special system so that people look after each other. If our children are dating, they must be supervised so that they are not in a lonely house,” he said.
Chairman of the Mojokerto Regency LKB Cadre, Rosyidi Idhom, appreciated the presence of the Mojokerto Regency Government in joint efforts to achieve the three zero target by 2030. He hopes that through this forum, the regional government will encourage all village governments and village midwives to aggressively prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS.
“Outreach to the community is very important, so that people do not behave in ways that have the potential to transmit or become infected with HIV/AIDS,” he said.
In line with LKB cadres, the Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Mojokerto District Health Service, Dr. Agus Dwi Cahyono, said that all village heads and village midwives are expected to play an active role in preventing, treating and administering HIV/AIDS.
Prevention efforts can be taken by providing education to groups at high risk (Risti) of HIV/AIDS transmission, such as commercial sex workers and transgender people. The aim is for the risti group to behave in a way that is free from the potential for HIV transmission. Village heads and village midwives are also expected to create a support system for PLWHA to regularly take ARVs.
“Continued management is if there is a PLWHA whose condition worsens, the village head and village midwife will quickly take them to the hospital, if they die, they will handle the rehabilitation according to procedures,” he said.
New PLWHA in Mojokerto Regency this year reached 270 people. This number is a slight increase compared to the number of new HIV/AIDS sufferers in 2022 which will reach 240 people. Meanwhile, the total number of PLWHA who are undergoing treatment is around 500 people.
