Preventing fake vaccines, doctors: vaccinating children in primary health care settings

Doctors advise parents to take their children’s vaccinations to primary care providers, such as the Puskesmas.

REPUBLIC.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Pediatrician Dr. Muhammad Rizki, SpA, advises parents to immunize their children at health facilities (faskes) that are licensed to practice so that they do not receive counterfeit vaccines. “The suggestions that will certainly be done in primary health facilities like puskesmas for basic immunization, god willing, vaccine product will be good,” he said in a discussion on infant immunization he attended in Jakarta on Wednesday (4 / 1/2023).

He said, to get good vaccinations for children it must be done in a place where the health service facility is licensed to practice and the physician is registered and licensed to practice. Rizki also advised against being tempted by offers of cheap vaccinations that are being sold without official permission by anyone other than healthcare professionals.

“Don’t carelessly choose cheap vaccines because vaccines are not freely traded, let alone healthcare people, if they are sold there is no official permit,” he said.

He said, to make sure the vaccine given is good for children, doctors usually always check the expiration date of the vaccine and make sure the vaccine is in good condition before it is given. In addition, the health service facilities and the doctors who will carry out the vaccinations have usually undergone a rigorous process and are officially licensed.

“This knowledge is known only to health professionals, so it is recommended to vaccinate in health service facilities that have official permits and official permits to produce vaccines,” Rizki said.

The impact of fake vaccinations on children can occur when children are not immune to certain types of diseases. In addition to having no immunity, fake vaccines can also cause infections in children because they are produced in a process that is not sterile and has no standard procedures for real vaccines.

Some of the symptoms of infection that can occur if a child gets it fake vaccine Among these are high fever, irregular heartbeats and they tend to be faster, shortness of breath and decreased appetite. The infection also allows children to complain of pain and become fussier.
