Kupang – The Kupang City Government together with Karang Taruna conducted mass fogging and distributed free abate powder, Friday (13/1/2022).
The activity aims to prevent the transmission of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Kupang City. They also cleaned up the trash which is a breeding ground for the Aedes Aegepty mosquito that carries the dengue virus, which causes dengue fever.
Fogging is carried out by the Kupang City Health Office in DHF red zone locations and where there were previously DHF cases. Fogging was carried out in the Kolhua Village and the BTN housing complex. Also present, Kolhua Village Chief Vester Hello, Seklur, Viktor, a number of RT Heads.
The Acting Mayor of Kupang, George Hadjo, told the media this Friday (13/1/2022) afternoon that he stressed that fogging and distributing abatement is one of the government’s efforts to protect residents from dengue fever.
“Only by collaborating can we build this city. So this spirit must be present in every one of our struggles, including in protecting the citizens of this city from dengue fever. I invite all parties to get involved, not just the government. Karang Taruna as the young generation that drives the environment should be more active and I’m sure they can do it because they also have that spirit,” said George, who also touched on other elements.
The team from the Kupang City Health Office was involved in this activity, led by the Head of the Naioni Health Center, Ferry Jelalu.
Chairman of Karang Taruna, Kupang City, Stenly Boymau led a small team from Karang Taruna, distributing abates free of charge to residents who needed them.
“We translate the spirit of collaboration that is always echoed by the Governor and the Acting Mayor. This is a must, that building this city is not only one group, but must be done simultaneously, together. Hand in hand, and for that Karang Taruna as an important pillar in society, is here to do something,” said Stenly.
The former Editor-in-Chief of the Jawa Pos Group added that there were hundreds of Abate packages prepared, and yesterday they were all divided up. According to him, fogging is to kill adult mosquitoes, while abate is to kill the larvae.
“One time, we eradicate the mother and also the larvae. Finished. This is how we translate the spirit of collaboration. Thank you to the Municipal Government of Kupang for inviting us to be involved in this great work. We believe that there is no glory without sacrifice, and we are currently doing great works to protect the citizens of this city from the threat of the plague,” he concluded.
