Hello DEMAK – Head of Demak District Health Service, Ali Maimun reminded residents not to use smoke as the main solution in preventing dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).
This statement was made after many requests for smoke from the public, who believed that it was an effective way to prevent this disease.
“Smoke kills adult mosquitoes, but smoke does not affect mosquito larvae which are the main source of the problem. If not done according to the right criteria, smoke can cause a lot of mosquito resistance the temples of the Egyptians against insects,” said Ali Maimun, Thursday (18/04/2024), as published demakkab.go.id.
In addition, Ali emphasized that the community must be actively involved in preventing dengue fever, in a more effective and sustainable way.
“We invite all residents to eliminate mosquito nests (PSN) in their own areas,” he said.
He said that PSN can be done through 3M practices, which include regularly draining reservoirs and brushing all reservoir walls, closing culverts, and using recycled materials such as tires and plastic cups so that they do not collect rain water, which could be. a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
The Head of the Health Service also appealed to the public to be more vigilant and proactive in protecting the surrounding environment so that it would be free from the possibility for mosquitoes that carry the dengue virus to develop.
“Active community involvement is very important in breaking the chain of dengue fever transmission. “Fog is only effective as a reactive measure to dengue cases that have already occurred, not as a preventive measure,” he said.
By increasing public awareness and participation in prevention efforts, it is hoped that the number of dengue fever cases in Demak Regency will be further reduced. Public health is a shared responsibility, and every preventive action taken by the community will have a positive impact on efforts to control dengue fever in the area. (HS-08).
