Preventing Dengue Fever in Trentemoult District: Information and Prevention Measures

On September 18, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) informed the Rezé town hall of the existence of a case of dengue fever in the Trentemoult district. It’s about “from an imported case”, that is, the patient in question contracted this disease transmitted by tiger mosquitoes in another region. When their presence is proven, as is the case in this neighborhood, the health procedure provides for mosquito control in the area. This operation was carried out at the beginning of the month in Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, but it was not possible in Rezé.

Located on the banks of the Loire, the Trentemoult district is in fact located too close to the river. It is prohibited to spray any chemical treatment in this protected area.

From door to door to inform

The health authorities have therefore mandated the Inovalys laboratory (in charge of monitoring the tiger mosquito in Pays de la Loire) to inform the inhabitants of Trentemoult by going door to door. Residents were invited to respect gestures that are as simple as they are essential to fight against proliferation of the tiger mosquito.

First of all, in gardens, on terraces and balconies, you must remove all containers and objects in which water stagnates, even in tiny quantities. This is where the female lays her eggs and the larvae develop.
