General practitioner Svetlana Burnatskaya spoke about available ways to prevent and combat colds. The doctor also advised Russians to drink alkaline mineral waters.

“The influenza virus, for example, is unstable in an alkaline environment,” Burnatskaya explained in an interview with RIAMO. The specialist also spoke about the benefits of vitamins C and D and products containing them.

“A lack of vitamin D in the body may be associated with an increased susceptibility to acute respiratory diseases,” the therapist warned.

During the period of colds, Burnatskaya recommends making fruit drinks from cranberries, red and black currants, rose hips and taking vitamin supplements in a dosage of 1000 mg per day. The doctor noted that this is especially important for those who are in contact with already sick people or want to strengthen their immunity.
