In the current epidemiological context of Mureș county, which foresees more and more increases in the number of flu cases from one week to the next, the Mureș Public Health Directorate (DSP) has issued an instructional document to help reduce the spread of viruses in the community school, professional, family and social alike. The guide was submitted to the institutions dealing with public health in Romania by the National Institute of Public Health, subordinated to the Ministry of Health.
At the level of school units, epidemiologists recommend the following protective measures: carrying out daily triage; informing parents and legal guardians about the signs and symptoms of respiratory infections, respectively home isolation of children with symptoms and contacting the family doctor; provision of hand sanitiser products; periodic airing of the rooms; the use of disposable handkerchiefs.
As for the entire social community, the recommendations are broader and provide, in principle, to avoid crowded areas as much as possible, to regularly ventilate the rooms, to wear a protective mask if symptoms of illness are present; maintaining proper hand hygiene; immediate referral to the family doctor in the event of the appearance of specific symptoms; continuation of influenza vaccination.
Last but not least, the representatives of the National Institute of Public Health sent prevention recommendations for health facilities and implicitly for medical personnel. These are: the daily epidemiological triage for all staff members, the wearing of protective equipment, the adaptation of the visiting schedule of patients admitted to public health facilities, based on the risk analysis carried out by DSP Mureș, the provision of antiviral stocks, the continuation of vaccination, ensuring and restoring stocks of protective equipment, antiseptics and disinfectants.
