batampos.co.id – The risk of lung cancer is increasing due to lack of exercise and exposure to external factors such as air quality and the environment. Exercise will make the body healthier and fitter. One of them prevents various diseases, including lung cancer.

Lung Specialist dr. Hasto Nugroho, Sp.P(K), FISR, MKM stated that the cause of lung cancer is the quality of the air that is inhaled every day. Nearly 80 percent of lung cancer cases are related to smoking, so a preventive step to avoid this disease is to reduce exposure to cigarette smoke and harmful substances such as factory smoke, paint odors, gasoline, and others.

Physiologically, said dr. Hasto, lung function begins to decline when a person turns 40 years old. It is very important to live a healthy lifestyle in order to maintain lung health and avoid various respiratory disorders. What can be done is to eat nutritious food, not smoke, and regularly exercise at least twice a week.

“When you exercise, the muscles between your ribs expand and contract. Then, the air sacs in the lungs work rapidly to exchange oxygen for carbon dioxide. By exercising regularly, we can strengthen heart resistance,” said dr. Hasto.

Meanwhile, singer and Zumba® Brand Ambassador in Indonesia, Denada Tambunan together with the Zumba® Community wants to provide education about maintaining lung health in commemoration of World Lung Cancer Month. According to him, zumba can be a good exercise option to maintain lung health.

“His energetic movement maximizes the performance of the respiratory organs, fulfills oxygen needs, and helps me to prevent various respiratory disorders,” said Denada Tambunan in an official statement, Thursday (25/11).

As a sports instructor, Denada Tambunan also encourages people to make exercise a part of their daily routine.

According to the American Lung Association, when you exercise, your heart and lungs work harder to supply the extra oxygen your muscles need. “So, in addition to strengthening muscles, exercise also helps increase your lung capacity. Therefore, I invite the public to maintain respiratory health by participating in Zumba, which can be done together in the studio or virtually without having to leave the house,” said Denada.

He said the lungs are the only organs of the body that are directly related to the outside world. Maintaining lung health is something that must be done because the quality of the air and oxygen we receive determines a person’s productivity and quality of life. “Of course, diligent exercise can help lung cell tissue and its circulation to the brain,” said Denada.
