– It entails correctness. We don’t have figures on this, but a kitchen fan full of grease increases the chances of fire spreading from the stove and further up into ventilation etc., confirms communications manager Sigurd Folgerø Dalen at the Fire and Rescue Service in Oslo municipality to Dagbladet.
According to a press release from the insurance company If in December 2023, the fire service had called out a total of 1,750 times in the last 12 months due to stove-related fires.
The Consumer Council has also warned against poorly cleaned kitchen fans.
