Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– The Covid-19 Handling Task Force advises the public to use double masks to prevent the transmission of Covid-19, which has increased significantly recently.
Head of the Behavior Change Division of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Sonny Harmadi, said that basically all variants of Covid-19 have 98% of the same genetics. The mode of transmission is the same, namely through droplets and aerosols coming out of the mouth and respiratory tract.
“So the Delta variant is more than aerosol. Aerosols are small particles that can float in the air for a long time,” he said in the webinar.
This is the reason the Covid-19 Task Force recommends double or double masks, namely a combination of medical masks and cloth masks. “Inside medical masks and outside cloth masks,” he said.
He explained that basically cloth masks have better density but lower filtration compared to medical masks. “Medical filtering masks are better but the density is worse,” he said.
On the same occasion Sonny reminded that the risk of Covid-19 was getting higher and closer.
“There are 180 million cases of Covid-19 in the world. This is what has been discovered. There are even more that haven’t been caught. Even the WHO says it’s confirmed positive, now what’s not confirmed even though it’s positive could be much bigger than this,” said Sonny
“What about Indonesia? We have reached 2 million cases. As of yesterday, there were 181,000 active cases, the highest during the pandemic in Indonesia. Previously, our highest record of active cases was 176,000 on February 5, 2021,” he concluded.
