In a press release received by Wartakotalive.com, Sunday (11/21/2021), Peralmuni reminded the public about the importance of influenza vaccination so that we can protect each other while controlling the Covid-19 pandemic efficiently and preventing seasonal influenza.

This disease can affect all age groups, and can lead to serious complications, especially in people with weakened immune systems and high-risk groups, such as children under five years of age, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with certain chronic medical conditions.

Moreover, during the Covid-19 pandemic, there is the possibility of coinfection with flu at the same time as infection with the Covid-19 virus.

According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2018, three to five million people worldwide are infected with severe influenza every year.

Of these, an estimated 290,000 to 650,000 people die per year.

Director of Communicable Disease Prevention and Control of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Dr. Nadia Tarmizi sites, M. Epid., said, currently, Covid-19 cases have decreased along with the increasing coverage of Covid-19 vaccinations.
