20 students from different educational establishments from Valparaiso They arrived at the UPLA Faculty of Art (August 22) to participate in the start of the “UPLA 2024 Pre-University Musical Program”activity funded by the Music Background and coordinated by the academic of the Pedagogy in Musical Education degree at UPLA Juan Sebastian Cayo.
The activity to be carried out, for the second consecutive year, in the facilities of the Faculty of Artswill provide musical instruction to young people from different schools in the commune, who during the course of the work days They will review aspects related to musical language. In addition, with the aim of developing theoretical concepts, The study of guitar, initial piano and singing will be addressed.
The opening ceremony featured the participation and interpretation of a musical number by students of the degree course Pedagogy in Musical Education UPLA Oliver Leiva and Esteban Díaz, who are part of Plastic Wingsa tribute duo to The Beatles. Likewise, Macarena Sanders, a professional from the Admissions Unit, told the attendees about entering the university via the preparatory course.
Juan Sebastian Cayoprofessor responsible for the initiative, explained that this second version of the musical pre-university is an instance that aims at the Initial music instruction, particularly for third and fourth grade studentsmanaging to complement these studies with those learned in their different establishments.
“In this sense, it is also projected as an opportunity for the inclusion and access of the school community to academic facilities, promoting the reduction of gaps in artistic training in the territory where the proposal is inserted. On the other hand, this year we have incorporated students of the career in the realization and planning of the sessions, this has the purpose of increasing the training opportunities of our students by linking them with young people interested in deepening their knowledge in the area of music,” he explained.
