A few years ago, the TV satirical magazine Extra 3 voted Ludwigshafen am Rhein the ugliest city in Germany. What would have caused outrage elsewhere, the city leaders took it easy and used it for advertising. Since then, you have been able to explore building sins and urban planning mistakes on so-called ugly tours, which certainly do not only exist in Ludwigshafen. As a city guide, Helmut van der Buchholz is almost the ideal choice. He has lived in the chemical metropolis for almost 60 years and is also an architect. As a freelance artist and art initiator, he has also given Ludwigshafen many creative impulses over the decades.
