Beauty and wellness
Every Saturday throughout the summer, Paris Match takes care of you and pampers you.
Institute treatments, rituals to perform at home, cosmetics to discover… For two months, we reveal all our tips and advice to give you a moment just for you. Fatigue, stress, pollution, sometimes not very balanced diet… It must be said, we see all the colors. It’s time to treat our body as it deserves, because after all, the saying “a healthy mind in a healthy body” didn’t come out of nowhere.
Treatment of the week: Pressotherapy
In summer, more than in any other season, we sometimes have the feeling of having heavy or swollen legs. In fact, heat can cause water retention, an accumulation of water within a tissue of the body, then causing it to swell. These swellings can develop in different well-identified parts of the body, but generally affect the legs.
What to do in these cases? Well we can turn to pressotherapy. A draining treatment that will act in depth to eliminate the feeling of fatigue in the legs. But pressotherapy does not stop there in its promises. It would also contribute to eliminate cellulite and smooth the skin, to shape and tighten a beautiful silhouette and finally it would contribute to weight loss by detoxifying the body. Just that !

I had the opportunity to discover this treatment that I did not know at all in L’Institut, a beauty center located at Porte de Namur in Brussels. The Institute is run by Thomas Libert, who is truly passionate about his profession and eager to share his know-how. The center aims to be completely innovative since it notably offers a day entirely dedicated to men, on Sunday. In addition, the house has developed its own range of products, Ophyto et 2B Bio Beauty, both made in Belgium, in Binche more precisely. An institute that only uses 100% Belgian home products deserves to be highlighted, but I will present these two brands to you very soon in a new article. The center has been designed to offer customers a pure moment of relaxation with subdued blue light in all rooms and background music. And since the Institute doesn’t seem to do anything like the others, pressotherapy also aims to be innovative. In fact, the combination here is different from that which can be found in hospitals (note: this treatment is sometimes used in physiotherapists after surgery for example, to prevent the formation of blood clots), since it has been here was made to measure so that it reaches under the chest, so as to also cover the belly, which is not trivial!
What does it consist of ?
Thomas started by explaining the session to me in detail, he then invited me to put on my underwear and covered my legs and belly with slimming cream 2011, a renowned product in the field made by his father. He then wrapped my legs and stomach in cellophane to protect the device from the cream and hasten the effect of the product. The cream is very pleasant, it brings a feeling of freshness and smells of essential oils, which had the gift of relaxing me instantly. I then sat down in the jumpsuit which works with a zipper system, so it’s very easy to put on. Attached to a machine, the suit began to inflate with air, putting pressure on my body. What is interesting is that there are several modes depending on the desired effect. Thus, the program aimed at eliminating cellulite will exert a stronger pressure than that intended for lymphatic drainage. I had the opportunity to test both. The pressure is not uniform, so all areas of the body are not worked at the same time, which is really a plus. In fact, I literally felt like I was being massaged and didn’t feel any pain. A little extra, throughout my session Thomas took care of me by performing an oxygenating and moisturizing facial treatment which I will tell you about shortly. It is therefore possible to combine two treatments simultaneously, saving time!
The results
Since I only performed one session, I cannot report the effects that the treatment is supposed to have on the appearance of cellulite. On the other hand, after only one session I lost 600g, which was in the end only water. I also had to chain stops to the toilet after my treatment, so my body really eliminated some of its toxins. My legs were much lighter for almost two weeks. A great discovery, which I intend to repeat on occasion.
Want to try pressotherapy yourself, find all the information on the Institute’s website. Know that it takes 60 euros for a session of 55 minutes.
