In the early hours of August 5, a 48-year-old man from Pongau vandalized several windows and doors of two residential buildings as well as two parked cars in Pfarrwerfen. The vandal hit the vehicles with pieces of wood and threw paving stones at them, causing considerable material damage. The perpetrator then threw several paving stones in the direction of a witness, but did not hit her. The 48-year-old has a court-ordered restraining order against him from approaching and entering the area of the crime scene due to previous crimes. The accused does not have a driving license, was drunk and was driving a car in this state. The police managed to arrest the 48-year-old man from Pongau at the scene of the crime, but he tried to put up fierce resistance. On the orders of the Salzburg public prosecutor’s office, the police took the man to Salzburg prison. He will be charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license and other administrative offenses as well as damage to property. The extent of the property damage is the subject of investigations.
