By mid-February 2023, all employees will receive a so-called “social security registration certificate” from their employer. The Deutsche Rentenversicherung Baden-Württemberg (DRV BW) provides information on why this annual report is important.
For all employees who were employed on December 31, 2022, employers must submit an annual report for the past year together with the first wage or salary statement for 2023. In addition to the period of employment, this also shows the salary subject to social security contributions, from which the later pension is calculated.
Check information and keep certificate
Die DRV BW advises you to check all the information carefully and keep the annual report in a safe place. Because incorrect information can affect both the future processing of pension applications and the amount of the pension. Important are name, date of birth, address, insurance number, duration of employment and gross income. Anyone who discovers errors should contact their employer immediately and have the annual report corrected.
For the annual report, the data is automatically reported by the employer to the respective health insurance company as a so-called collection point. This automatically forwards the data to the other social insurance institutions, such as the statutory pension insurance. Important: Annual reports are also submitted for mini-jobs. In these cases, however, the recipient of the automatic notification is not the health insurance company, but the mini-job center.
