Hadi Teherani creates identity-forming architecture for Freiburg

Parador, in April 2022 – With the Open Frameworks Design Edition by Hadi Teherani launched in 2018, Parador has successfully continued its collaboration with leading international designers. The parquet and laminate collection by architect Hadi Teherani, who was born in Iran and lives in Hamburg, has received several awards, including the renowned Good Design Award, the red dot award and the German Design Award. The Design Edition plays an important creative role in the newly created Volksbank area for Freiburg im Breisgau.

Created by star architect Hadi Teherani, the multifunctional area houses, among other things, the new headquarters of the Volksbank Freiburg, foundations of the Archdiocese of Freiburg, rooms of the St. Ursula Gymnasium, a hotel, offices and retail space. The parquet from the Open Frameworks Design Edition in the colors OAK natural and OAK gray is located in the headquarters of the Volksbank Freiburg and in the Hotel Courtyard by marriot.

Its central location opposite Freiburg’s main train station makes the Volksbank Areal the gateway to the city. The interior of the branch and the management board area of ​​the Volksbank as well as the interior of the hotel were designed by the renowned architects with headquarters in Hamburg. As a reference to the nearby Black Forest, Hadi Teherani takes up the idea of ​​trees in the forest in an abstract way with the lamellar structure of the facade .

In the interior, designed by Hadi Teherani’s interior design department, dark, anthracite-colored surfaces and stainless steel stand for timeless style. Wooden surfaces such as the parquet used from the Open Frameworks Design Edition impressively underline the warm and at the same time elegant atmosphere. Thanks to a new click system with a loose tongue, the oak parquet floorboards of the Open Frameworks Design Edition by Hadi Teherani offer an unlimited variety of design options for the four different floorboard formats, as they can be combined with one another as desired. In the lobby and the meeting rooms of the Volksbank as well as in the 4-star business hotel Courtyard by marriot, the parquet flooring in two different oak nuances creates an authentic, comfortable atmosphere. At the same time, the interplay of the different plank formats perfectly emphasizes the modernity of the new headquarters.

The Volksbank area was handed over to its intended purpose in the summer of 2021 after a construction period of around three and a half years.
