Presidential Poll Results: Zelensky vs. Zaluzhny and Ukraine’s Political Battlefield

According to the results of an unpublished opinion poll by the Rating group, if the current head of state Vladimir Zelensky and Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny had reached the second round of the presidential elections in Ukraine, the results would have been almost identical – Zelensky – 42%, Zaluzhny – 40%.

Details: A few days ago, one of the telegram channels close to the President’s Office showed presidential political ratings, in which Zelensky in the first round received about 47% of the votes among those who had decided.

UP had the opportunity to familiarize itself with the full data of that study, conducted but not published by the Rating group.

According to the survey results, if the current president goes into the second round with General Zaluzhny, then Zelensky may not win this second round.

Zelensky has no other competitors.

The study was conducted November 3-7, 2023. 2,000 respondents were interviewed (1,000 through personal interviews and 1,000 via telephone).

The error in the representativeness of the study is no more than 2.2%.

Background:

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, said in an interview, in particular, that the situation at the front has reached a dead end, when neither side can advance because they are equally technologically equipped, and that the war is moving into the stage of positional struggle. In turn, President Vladimir Zelensky said that he does not consider the situation at the front to be a stalemate and that Ukraine will not negotiate with Russia. On November 21, Zelensky, in an interview with The Sun tabloid, said that military personnel who are going to engage in politics should not “be involved in war.” On November 29, The Economist wrote that in parallel with the grim reality of trench warfare, the “political battlefield” in Kiev is becoming increasingly tense, President Vladimir Zelensky sees a competitor in the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, and political squabbling is harming Ukraine. The Economist reported that it had obtained access to an internal poll in Ukraine and the results suggested that “Zelensky risks losing the presidential election if he ever comes face to face with his commander in chief.”
