Presidential: In New York, Macron beats Le Pen hands down

40.3% of French people in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Bermuda went to the polls this Saturday, April 23 for the second round of the 2022 presidential election. 93.55% of them gave their vote to Emmanuel Macron against 6.45% who voted for the far-right candidate. It is also in polling station 18 that the French voted the most for Le Pen with 10.05% of the vote. Conversely, it was in polling station 14 that the French voted the most for Emmanuel Macron with 96.36% of the vote.

One observation, this second round mobilized more than the first round where only 35.94% of French people in the constituency of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Bermuda went to the polls on Saturday April 9. Yesterday, some 40.3% of French people, or 11,734 voters in the constituency, went to the polls to fulfill their duty as French citizens.

In 2017, Emmanuel Macron won 95% of the vote. It is clear that 5 years later, he lost 1.45% of the votes among the French in New York. For this second round, 0.46% of voters voted blank, against 0.23% in the first round, and 0.15% of the ballots were considered “void”, against 0.16% in the first round.

The Consulate General of France in New York had set up some 21 polling stations to accommodate the 28,729 French people registered on the French electoral list for the constituency of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Bermuda.

As for the first round, we could have disseminated these results from yesterday evening, but French law prohibits the dissemination of any poll or result, even partial, before the closing of the last polling station, namely, 8 p.m. in large cities. French.

This law is intended to guarantee everyone’s freedom to vote. That is to say, to prevent partial results from tilting the ballot, for example by favoring last-minute votes for a candidate announced in bad shape.
