Libreville, Sunday July 9, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The President of the Republic responded favorably this Sunday to the pressing appeals of his compatriots inviting him to run for a third term at the head of the country during the elections on August 26th.
Ali Bongo Ondimba finally lifted the suspense this Sunday by announcing his candidacy for the presidential election on August 26th. Speaking today in front of thousands of Gabonese gathered at the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Nkok near Libreville, the outgoing president finally said “Yes” to the pressing calls of his compatriots to run for a third term at the top of the State. “I officially announce today that I am a candidate” in the presidential election.
This announcement comes the day after the “Republican Tour” that Ali Bongo Ondimba completed yesterday by Ogooué-Ivindo. A national journey that has led the Head of State since April 2022 through the nine provinces of Gabon. Candidate of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG), he is presented as a super favorite in his polls with regard to his aura with the Gabonese population and the territorial establishment of his political party.
