Whole families drove up and the President and Commandant were happy to finally see many again

Hard times for carnivalists and hardly any opportunity for the presidents of the carnival societies to meet the members. But with a gate made of red and white balloons, sentry boxes, music and decorations, the Prinzengarde of the city of Düsseldorf transformed the right of way at the Hilton Hotel into a corona-compliant drive-in on Saturday and invited the guardsmen to drive through.

The hotel driveway was decorated entirely in red and white
In the run-up, hard-working hands had packed red and white surprise packages, which President Dirk Kemmer and Commander Marco Bätzel presented to around 150 members. Sometimes the red and white people had to take a long drive to join the long line of vehicles on Georg-Glock-Straße. Many had put on the red and white caps or dressed up like a carnival. Some of the vehicles were also decorated – in red and white, of course.

The drivers waited patiently on Georg-Glock-Straße until the right of way was free for them
Everyone was happy about the special order of the session, which this time has the shape of a heart. The symbol of love should also stand for life – a special concern in times of Corona. A clear stone over the heart symbolizes a tear for the victims of the pandemic.

The session order of the Prinzengarde of the city of Düsseldorf
The fact that the Prinzengarde of the city of Düsseldorf found it very difficult to cancel the session and that everyone is now experiencing the carnival days with sadness is also shown by the video that the Red-Weisses published to Altweiber. The normal, cheerful guard song sung in a choir was recorded instrumentally and sensitively underlaid with image sequences by the members. The video can be viewed here.

Members of the Prinzengarde Blau-Weiss distributed 1,111 flowers on Saturday (February 13th) on Düsseldorf’s Carlsplatz. The guardsmen wanted to console the fact that there should be no carnival with a flower greeting.

The foolish market women choose their celery prince in each session, who adorns the ladies through the carnival. In the Corona session, a new madness was dispensed with. Instead, some princes were reactivated because the Celery Princes Club stepped in. So it was they who asked the foolish market women to “drive-in” on Carnival Saturday (February 13th). There was a flower, a piccolo and the session medals of the prince’s club.

There is also no carnival procession in Itter and Himmelgeist this year. Unfortunately, the public order office has even banned a mini-car parade with four vehicles. But the carnivalists won’t let that get them down. Therefore, everyone is invited to take part in the big music event on Saturday (February 13th) at 2:11 pm. It says: Open the window and turn the music up loud. The desired title is the Düsseldorf flood anthem “Da schwimm ‘ne Kölner”.
