Presidential Decree Opens New Algerian Consulate in Melun, France

Presidential decree n° 23-237 of July 3, 2023 opening a consulate in Melun (France) was published yesterday in the Official Journal. A decision taken on “report of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the national community abroad”, we specify in the text.

“The consular district of this post extends to the following departments: Essonne, Seine-et-Marne and Yonne”, specifies the same decree. The opening of this consulate, which was announced last October, will enable Algerians residing in this French region to avoid long journeys.

It should be noted, moreover, that another decree mentions a new delimitation of the competence of the Algerian consulate in Créteil (France), which is now exercised “over the following departments: Nièvre and Val-de-Marne”.

It should be recalled, lastly, that until then the consular network of Algeria in France is made up, with the opening of a consulate in Rouen (Seine-Maritime) in June 2022, of nineteen general consulates and consulates.
