Jakarta –
The presidential candidate from the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), Ganjar Pranowo talked about being bullied on social media. However, Ganjar understood that at that time many were protesting against him.
This was revealed by Ganjar in a dialogue program with Gen Z and millennials in Tangerang, Banten, Sunday (28/5/2023). Ganjar said that he was bullied by 352 thousand people on social media.
“On Instagram I was bullied by 352 thousand (people). I read it 3 times, the first was cursing, the second was angry, the third was cursing and angry. So surely the others sounded like that, I didn’t read it,” said Ganjar.
Ganjar said the insult was a form of public protest against him. According to him, that is the importance of being open to criticism.
“But I have categorized all of them that yes, they are protesting strongly. So one thing earlier, we must be open to criticism, yes, if we are criticized, ‘oh yes, we must be wrong’,” he said.
The Governor of Central Java said that sometimes he replied to these bullying comments. Ganjar said that he has a vision to educate the public regarding the wise use of social media.
“But the rest I like to reply, usually for fun I ‘read in my DM’, so we have a private space to explain. It’s a tiring job, but I have a vision of educating the public so that digital literacy and social media are good,” said Ganjar.
“Why did I explain it so much? But he was angry, so cranky, that’s it,” he continued.
Ganjar said that if an explanation has been given but it is not accepted, then it will be left alone. He said he didn’t like blocking on social media.
“But I’m not the blocking type. So I just ignored it and then it happened,” he said.
Furthermore, Ganjar admits that he cannot understand the minds of Gen Z and millennials. Ganjar then advised that even if you play social media, don’t forget to read books.
“Sometimes I can’t understand Gen Z, but I can feel it because there is the same frequency. I don’t understand what Gen Z thinks. But I can feel it because I’m active on social media, it turns out to be the same, only then extraordinary from Gen Z children, millennial children are creative,” he said.
“Sometimes it doesn’t enter my mind, that means I must read often. So my message is that you can play Tiktok, you can play Ig, you can play social media, but don’t forget to read often, so that literacy is good, so we are more careful,” he added.
