Jakarta

Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo highlighting the case of volunteers being attacked by TNI members in Boyolali, Central Java. Ganjar also called the TNI Commander and the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) after hearing about the incident.

This was conveyed by Ganjar when attending the Masayekh event at the An Nawawi Berjan Islamic Boarding School, in Purworejo, Central Java, Sunday (31/12/2023). Ganjar initially warned not to spread hoaxes.

“Ahead of a situation like this, there are usually lots of hoaxes on social media, slander going on, oh my goodness, if there is data that’s okay, but don’t slander,” said Ganjar.

“Or maybe in the middle of the road, be careful, don’t get emotional, then get angry, fight,” he continued.

Ganjar then touched on the case of his volunteers who were abused by TNI members in Boyolali, Central Java. Ganjar said that when he heard the news, he immediately contacted TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto and Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak to investigate the case.

“(There were volunteers) on motorbikes who were intercepted and then beaten (beaten), we immediately took care of it, I contacted the TNI Commander, Army Chief of Staff, Military Commander, it’s not true that this (the actions of the individuals) were immediately punished, the response was fast,” he said.

Even so, Ganjar still asked his supporters to be careful. He reminded that every problem must be resolved well without violence.

“But I also remind all supporters to be careful. What is the problem? The solution must not be violence, this is not the time anymore, don’t hurt the people,” he said.

Ganjar warned that this would not happen again. In fact, Ganjar asked the TNI members who carried out the abuse to be summoned and asked for clarification.

“I am warning you of this, and we are asking you to summon it if necessary. I am asking you to summon the DPR if necessary. We cannot do anything arbitrarily so that then fear spreads to anyone. Let’s create conduciveness,” he explained.
