After the name of Xavi, the name of Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp is now also included FC Barcelona. Jordi Farré, a Catalan businessman who will participate in the presidential elections at the club next year, wants to bring the German trainer to Camp Nou.
Farré, who does not understand that current president Josep Maria Bartomeu is still at the helm of the club after the 2-8 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, sees Klopp as a great trainer for Barcelona. He does indicate that Ronaldo Koeman is a good option for now. “It is a difficult situation and Koeman is an excellent solution”, Farré tells Sport. “He is a Barcelona legend, a benchmark. He is what the club needed. I wish him the best, the challenge is enormous.”
Businessman Farré does not rule out that when he becomes president at Barcelona, Koeman may remain seated. “If it works and he does well, I would of course keep him. We have of course already finished our ‘roadmap’: I have already had several conversations with Jürgen Klopp, it seems to us that Barça needs such a coach.”
Farré is not the favorite to take over from Bartomeu. Victor Font, who wants to take Xavi to Camp Nou as a new trainer, seems to be the main candidate to take over. Font is a lot more drastic than Farré: even though Koeman is doing well next season, the Dutchman has to make way for Xavi anyway.
