From 2017 you can vote in the presidential election from 8:00 to 19:00. This is the law of 25 April 2016 which provides for it. But in each department, the prefect can provide for exemptions for some municipalities, with a deadline of 20:00. The rule of thumb is at 7pm.
In France, most polling stations are therefore open this Sunday from 8:00 to 19:00, as in the first round. This is what the presidential election law provides.
Some departments have chosen to standardize their practices: in Gers or inside Ariegefor example, all voters must have voted before 7pm.
In Girondeinstead, it will be 7:00 pm everywhere except at Bordeaux which will close at 20:00.
In Upper Garonneall municipalities will close at 19:00, except Toulouse and towns with more than 10,000 inhabitants that can extend an hour, as decided by the prefect.

Geographical inequalities
Don’t even look for regional logic at these times … Normandyfor example, the city of Caen will keep its offices open until 8pm while the cities of Havre and of Rouen will close at 19:00
In the west, Rennes, Brest, Lorient, Vannes, Saint-Brieuc, Quimper, Le Mans, Angers, La Roche-sur-Yon, Laval… will stop voting at 7pm while Nantes and Sant’Erboristeria it will remain open to voters until 20:00
In the Alps, Annecy will close the shop at 7pm while its neighbor chamber will play overtime until 20:00.
Finally, in Paca, Cannes and Antibes it will linger until 20:00 whileAix in Provence will lower the curtain at 19:00
If you have any doubts, the simplest way is to inquire at the municipality in which you are voting: the information is very often available in the “elections” tab of your city’s website.
