On the second day of his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Yoon Seok-yeol embarked on a full-fledged state visit schedule while visiting the National Cemetery on the 15th (local time).
President Yoon started his schedule this morning by visiting the UAE National Cemetery, ‘Wahhat Al Karima’, with First Lady Kim Kun-hee. Wahat Al Karima means ‘Oasis of Dignity’ in Arabic.
Upon arriving at the memorial, President Yoon received a review of the UAE honor guards lined up in front of the memorial monument, bowed his head in silence, and laid a wreath. He then toured the memorial space inside the National Cemetery with the guidance of Veterans Affairs Director Khalifa bin Tahnun. On the walls of the memorial space, the names of meritorious persons were engraved.
Then, in the guestbook of the National Cemetery, it read, “I pay my respects to the heroes who devoted their lives for the nation and for world peace.” The United Arab Emirates starts right here,’ he wrote.
Veterans Affairs Director Khalifa also delivered commemorative coins to President Yoon to commemorate the victims. In addition, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al-Mazruyi and Minister of Culture and Youth Noura Al-Khaibi also attended the pilgrimage.
In a press release, the President’s Office explained, “members of the UAE Federal Supreme Council visit this place every year on November 30th, Memorial Day,” and “It is also a place where top-level figures from abroad lay flowers when visiting the UAE.”
