President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned Ukrainians about Russian attacks on infrastructure next winter. “Residents should prepare for power outages.”
“With December in sight, we must prepare for the Russian winter offensive,” Zelensky said in a late-night video address. The warning comes after the Russians attacked Kyiv again for the first time in seven weeks.
Zelensky thinks Russia will increase the number of drone and missile attacks on infrastructure. “We must focus on everything we can do to get through the winter well and improve the capabilities of our soldiers.”
Last winter, Russia carried out major attacks on power stations and other plants in the country. As a result, Ukrainians were without power in many places for a long time.
Energy Minister German Galushchenko said on Saturday that Ukraine has sufficient energy resources to get through the winter. “But the question is to what extent future attacks could affect supplies.”
