President Zelensky “The situation in Donetsk is very difficult”… Minister of Defense of Ukraine to be replaced

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted yesterday (5th) that the situation in eastern Ukraine is very difficult.

In a video address that evening, President Zelensky said, “The Donetsk region is in a very difficult situation,” and “a fierce battle is going on.”

President Zelensky said that Russia is stepping up pressure “to make up for last year’s defeat” and that “we are seeing this on several fronts, and[Russia]is putting pressure on the intelligence side as well.”

However, he emphasized that “no matter how difficult the situation is and how strong the pressure is, we must endure it” and “there is no alternative but to defend ourselves and win.”

In the midst of this, it is known that the Ukrainian government will replace Defense Minister Oleksi Reznikow.

David Arahamiya, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and a close ally of President Zelensky, said in a Telegram account that Defense Minister Kirilo Budanou, director of military intelligence, will be appointed as the new defense minister.

Defense Minister Reznikou will take over as Minister of Strategic Industries, Arahamiya said.

On the same day, Russia fired two missiles toward the center of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, about 250 kilometers northwest of Donetsk.

“One residential building in the city center was hit and set on fire,” said Kharkiv Governor Ole Sinehuvou.

“Three victims have been identified so far: a 54-year-old woman and a 51- and 55-year-old man,” he said.
