Background:

• On February 8, President Vladimir Zelensky appointed Colonel General Alexander Syrsky as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of Valery Zaluzhny.
• On February 9, Zelensky appointed Major General Anatoly Bargilevich as head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Zelensky also said that Syrsky has identified candidates for deputies, and the president will sign the corresponding decrees. Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff have also been identified.
• On February 10, the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed First Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Pavlyuk because he was leaving for another position. The media believe that he will become the head of the Ground Forces instead of Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky.
