President Zelensky Outlines Ukraine’s Top Priorities for Defense and American Aid in Evening Address

The top four priorities for Ukraine right now include air defenses, advanced artillery, long-range capabilities, and getting American aid into the country as quickly as possible. Also in the ATACMS agreements for Ukraine, all details have been completed.

This is what President Volodymyr Zelensky said in the evening address to the nation on Monday, as reported by Ukrinform.

As usual, he summed up the day.

“Today was a long day and most of it was spent on military matters,” said the head of state.

I held a staff meeting. In particular, the work of our defense industry – the long-term contracts that already exist and are being implemented, and those that still need special attention – was reported more attention. It is clear that everyone in the government of Ukraine and our defense forces understand the tasks at hand. Obviously, now all our ability must work even more than one hundred percent to keep the situation under control and return the initiative to Ukraine. Especially since we now finally have a positive change in terms of American support and we are working to ensure that Ukraine’s capability is supported with the exact type of weapons that our heroes need. Not only to suffer, but also to be involved – to work energetically in pursuit of Ukrainian goals, to protect our people. I spoke with President Biden today about this very issue.

I am grateful to the President, his team, everyone in the United States Congress, President Mike Johnson personally, and everyone who supports the active defense of freedom for a decision that benefits our defense against Russian terrorism and our ability to end the war justly, with real peace for all Ukrainians.

Just before the conversation with President Biden began, Russian terrorists struck Kharkiv again – at a TV tower. Obviously, this is an intimidation to make the terror visible to the whole city and try to limit Kharkiv in terms of communication and access to information. We are working on restoring the signal. Just like Kharkiv, different cities and communities need protection – they need “patriotism”, he said.

At the same time, he asked that the greatest damage should be done to everything that Russia uses as a base for terror and for its military logistics.

It is also very important to him that the teams from Ukraine and the USA have started working on a bilateral security agreement. It can be a real model that will not only give people more security, but also help the entire course of European history to go in the right direction and only in peace.

Today I also met a delegation of congressmen who are visiting Ukraine. Members of the House of Representatives, both parties. We discussed ways to make this year productive for Ukraine and the entire coalition of defenders of international order. Today, with both congressmen and President Biden, we also talked about preparations for the first world peace summit. It is equally important for all of us that the format of the Peace Conference and the Peace Formula become a success story for Ukraine and for most of the world, for all those who want to live according to the rules of law between -national and in peace, Zelensky also said.
