In particular, the President held a meeting with Pope Francis, which lasted about 40 minutes.
On April 10, Pope Francis announced that the Vatican was participating in a peacekeeping mission to try to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The pontiff made such a statement after his visit to Budapest, where he met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Metropolitan Hilarion, a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Budapest.
However, later the Office of the President stated that Ukraine did not know anything about the peacekeeping mission of the Vatican, which Pope Francis spoke about. The authorities of the country did not give consent to such initiatives.
At the same time, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President’s Office, said that there was no secret mission of the Vatican after the end of the war.
