President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that the Soviet air defense (AD) systems are working effectively. Kyiv needs more missiles to protect the skies, the Ukrainian leader said at a press conference after talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stere in Kyiv.
‘for closing the sky [нужны] additional missiles for outdated, but still effective Soviet equipment. The shortage of missiles is a fact,” Zelensky is quoted by TASS.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said in April that Kyiv had stocks are running out missiles to the Soviet air defense system. The Ukrainian authorities asked for Western air defense systems to be provided to them for protection.
