On the 3rd day of the ROK-US combined exercise, President Yoon Seok-yeol visited the ROK-US Combined Forces Command Exhibition Command Center to check the practice situation and encourage soldiers.
It is the first time in 10 years that an incumbent president has visited the ROK-US Combined Forces Command Wartime Command Center.
After receiving a report on the exercise status, President Yoon said, “Since the establishment of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command in 1978, the Wartime Command Center has served as the brain for commanding the Army, Navy and Air Force forces of the ROK and US during wartime.” It is a symbol of the firmness of the ROK-US military alliance.”
“North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missiles are the most serious threat in existence, and North Korea’s provocations, such as cyber warfare and psychological warfare, are becoming increasingly intelligent and diversified.” He emphasized that armed forces are the source of power to deter North Korean provocations and to punish North Korean provocations immediately and resolutely.
Then, President Yoon mentioned the participation of nine UNC member countries in this year’s exercise and said, “As the UNC plays a role in immediately and automatically providing the wartime UNC member states’ forces to the ROK-US Combined Forces Command, the UNC member states will continue to focus on the strong ROK-US alliance as a core axis.” We will further strengthen our solidarity with the Republic of Korea to firmly protect the security of the Republic of Korea.”
President Yoon prepared a military-level response plan to more effectively increase the execution power of extended deterrence through the ROK-US Nuclear Consultation Group, and systematically conducted exercises such as road training and command post training in preparation for the North Korean nuclear threat, and the alliance’s response.
