President Yoon Seok-yeol to Hold First Multilateral Summit with Pacific Islands Leaders

President Yoon Seok-yeol will hold a summit meeting tomorrow (28th) with the heads of five Pacific Island countries.

Starting with the summit meeting with Kiribati President Tanetti Maamau, President Yoon held a summit meeting with Tongan Prime Minister Xiaosi Sovaleni, Tuvalu Prime Minister Kausea Natano, Vanuatu Prime Minister Ismael Kalsakau, and Papua Prime Minister James Marape. I will hold talks with the Prime Minister of New Guinea one after another.

They visited Korea to attend the Korea-Pacific Islands Summit held in Korea on the 29th and 30th, and President Yoon invited the heads of 18 member countries of the ‘Pacific Islands Forum’ and the forum’s secretary general.

This is the first time that a multilateral summit between Korea and Pacific Islands is being held.
