President Yoon Seok-yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida held an official dinner at the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Seoul on the 7th.
After holding a joint press conference at 6:00 that evening, President Yoon moved to his official residence in Hannam-dong and had a fellowship dinner at 7:30. The two leaders’ spouses, Kim Kun-hee and Yuko, were also present.
It is the second time that a foreign guest has had a dinner at the official residence in Hannam-dong, after Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman last November.
On this day’s dinner table, Gujeolpan, a Korean food dish in which 9 dishes are put in an octagonal box and wrapped in wheat crackers, tangpyeongchae and japchae, steamed Korean beef ribs, (beef) jokpyeon, Mineojeon, Korean beef bulgogi, wild wild prawns, naengmyeon, hangwa, fruit, and sikhye are on the rise.
Basic side dishes include white kimchi, water kimchi, grilled deodeok, and Damyang bamboo shoots.
For dinner, ‘Gyeongju Beopju Super Special’ was prepared. The President’s Office explained, “It is cleaner and softer by removing up to 79% of the rice surface, and it is one of the best millennium-altitude rice wines among our rice wines.”
It seems that the taste of Prime Minister Kishida, who is known as a ‘sake’ lover, was taken into account.
At two dinners held in Tokyo in March, the two leaders drank “Hwahapshu,” a mixture of Jinro soju and Yebisu draft beer, and “Kamotsuru,” a Japanese sake produced in Hiroshima.
Inside the presidential office, there was also a prospect that if the atmosphere was good, President Yoon could show off his cooking skills.
After the official dinner, it is known that the two heads of state will hold a second friendship event at the official residence, watching traditional Korean music performances.
