Reuters reported that the US House of Representatives began deliberations on a vote on the impeachment bill for President Donald Trump on the 13th (local time).

Reportedly, the House of Representatives started a debate on the impeachment bill at 9 am (11 pm KST on the 13th) on this day.

The lawmakers are expected to vote on the rules for the impeachment bill and then debate for two hours before going to a vote in the House of Representatives around 3-4 PM (5 AM on the 14th Korean time).

The resolution of impeachment falls under prosecution in general criminal cases, and President Trump was charged with “inciting civil rebellion” in connection with the intrusion of the Capitol on the 6th.

Congressman Jason Crowe (Democratic, Colorado) said, “We will impeach the President of the United States twice. This is the first time in history,” he said. “It’s all about holding the president accountable.”

As the Democratic Party, the majority of the House of Representatives, has announced its policy to rush the impeachment process as much as possible, the result of the vote is expected to come out within this day.

If the impeachment bill is passed in the House of Representatives, Trump will be disgraced as the first president to pass the second impeachment bill in the House of office during his term of office following the “Ukrainian scandal” at the end of 2019.

There are 222 Democrats and 211 Republicans in the House of Representatives, and the Democratic Party is expected to pass the impeachment bill as it has a majority.

However, the final passage of the impeachment bill is unlikely as the Senate requires more than two-thirds (67) votes. For the impeachment bill to pass, 50 Democrats and 17 Republicans must approve, and only 5-6 Republican senators demanded the resignation of Trump.
