Pedro Sanchez announced this Sunday in Tenerife a “new commitment to citizens” in terms of housing. The President of the Government advanced a public line of guarantees to guarantee 20% of the mortgage loan (that part of the amount of the operation that the bank does not grant and that frustrates many operations) for those under 35 and families with dependent minors.
“We are going to put housing at the center of our priorities”, Sánchez explained after announcing the line of guarantees, which he considers necessary due to the problems of young people to emancipate themselves and the difficulties of accessing a house for many families who “have difficulty when they go to a bank to have the deposit and to be able to get a mortgage and buy their home”.
The details of the measure will be known, in principle, after the next Council of Ministers. “When the right talks about housing, it talks about land for speculation and a luxury good, we want to turn it into a constitutional right and a basic necessity,” said the PSOE leader.

This measure announced by Sánchez that makes no need for prior savings to own a flat, is already in force in some of the communities governed by the Popular Party, such as the Madrid’s community, Andalusia and the Region of Murcia.

In this context, the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Ruedahas congratulated the Government for admitting that “in order to succeed in housing policy, it is best to copy the pioneering measures of the Xunta”.
