IN itosha turns into a museum of closed, rusting facilities.

The head of state holds a working meeting with representatives of the executive power, the local administration, representatives of the sports community and investors in the “Vitosha” nature park about the prospects for the development of mass sports, as well as summer and winter tourism in the mountains.

Radev noted that there is a huge growth in Winter tourism. “Tourism is becoming an increasingly large share of the country’s GDP,” he emphasized.
The president pointed out that Vitosha is jammed with cars because there is no other way to get to the mountain. He is adamant that he does not want to look for culprits, but for reasons and what decisions can be made.
The Mayor of Sofia Municipality Yordanka Fandakova stated that there should be excellent coordination between all institutions, quick actions, as well as by the desire of the owner of lift facilities, with whom successful and unsuccessful battles have been fought for years. She noted that the goal is to restore and develop the lifts. “The Dragalevski lift was also stopped and now we only have the Simeonovski lift, which also needs restoration”, stressed Fandakova and added that there is a total contradiction with the owners regarding the Knyajevski lift.
“We, as the municipality responsible for the road, have modernized and improved access to public transport. We have developed activities on Vitosha according to a number of programs,” said the capital’s mayor.
