President Radev did not veto the law against LGBT propaganda – 2024-08-15 13:29:20

President Rumen Radev did not veto the controversial amendment to the Law on Preschool and School Education, which prohibits the “propaganda of non-traditional sexual orientation within educational institutions.”

This was announced by the press office of the head of state.

“In response to the questions asked about what attitude the head of state will take regarding the changes voted by the National Assembly in the Preschool and School Education Act, we inform you:

The head of state has expressed his attitude to the changes in the Law on preschool and school education by signing a decree on its promulgation”write from the presidency.

We remind you that more than 7,000 citizens and 76 non-governmental organizations submitted to the presidency a request to veto the amendments to the Law on preschool and school education.

Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Michael O’Flaherty also urged President Rumen Radev not to allow the changes to be made public.

Last week, MPs banned the promotion of “non-traditional sexual orientation” in schools.
