“President Putin will go on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia tomorrow,” Kremlin press representative Dmitry Peskov announced on Tuesday, adding that the Russian leader will discuss not only mutual relations, but also the Israel-Hamas war and current events in international politics.
Last week, OPEC+ countries agreed to cut oil production next year in an effort to boost oil prices.
In Saudi Arabia, the president is scheduled to meet with the crown prince and de facto leader of the country, Mohammed bin Salman.
Dubai, on the other hand, has become an important trading center for Russian oil companies, including Lukoil, which previously moved part of its operations there, as European sanctions against Moscow forced traders to go to neutral territory, the Reuters news agency reported.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Russian president is scheduled to meet with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who plans to visit Russia.
The leaders of the two countries will discuss economic and military cooperation, taking into account the Western sanctions applied to them.
“I can confirm. The talks between Russia and Iran will take place on December 7,” Peskov told reporters on Tuesday, in response to media reports about Raisi’s upcoming visit.
In recent years, Putin has rarely traveled abroad, mainly to the countries of the former Soviet Union. His last trip outside these countries was to China in October.
