President Petr Pavel Visits Trutnoff Bojiště Complex and Attends Trutnoff Music Festival

President Petr Pavel visited the Trutnoff Bojiště complex, where the Trutnoff music festival started on Thursday evening. Upon arrival, he was greeted by the founder of the festival, Martin Věchet, and František Starek, known as Čunas. Due to visiting the festival, Pavel adjusted his vacation schedule. It is the first time at the Trutnov parade. In the past, Václav Havel, the first Polish president, was a frequent guest of the festival.

“We welcome the President of the Republic Petr Pavel. There has been no president with us for years. Long live President Petr Pavel. Thank you for his participation,” Starek said from the stage to the audience in the packed so-called underground tent. The audience greeted the president with applause, Pavel took a picture with some people. After that, he settled in the auditorium near the main stage and watched the concerts of bands, such as Prague’s selection.

After seven years, the event returned to its original venue in Trutnov. “The visit of President Petr Pavel was planned by mutual agreement, I respect it. I am not a voter of Mr. President, but we will certainly not do what the communists did under the previous regime, music should unite. At the moment, I am happy that we finally have a modern and pro-Western president,” said Věchet.

This year’s festival is dedicated to dissidents Petruška Šustrava and Dana Němcová, who died this year.
