President Petr Pavel today he started a two-day visit to the South Moravian region. First, he visited the Office for Cyber and Information Security. Pavel then told journalists that he considers education and awareness in the field of cyber security and cyber threats to be important.
“The Czech Republic records hundreds and even thousands of attacks every day, against individuals, but also regarding industrial espionage or the theft of sensitive information from diplomatic sources. Attacks can also lead to enormous material damage,” the president stated. He mentioned attacks against hospitals as an example.

Pavel arrived shortly before noon at the Brno exhibition center, where he participated in the International Engineering Fair. He described the event as extremely inspiring and beneficial. He pointed out that many companies are moving towards innovation, modern technologies and building new partnerships between the academic community and the business sector.
“These are all things that have the potential to move us forward if we create the right conditions to do so,” said the president.

According to him, digitization should be handled by an expert
Pavel also dealt with the issue of digitization. According to him, it would be ideal for the government to appoint an experienced and recognized expert to be in charge of digitization. He mentioned that the key is to adopt laws that facilitate the establishment of companies, speed up construction permits and support the overall digitization of the economy.
“For example, by appointing a qualified and respected government commissioner for digitization, who does not necessarily come from a political background. On the contrary, it might be beneficial for him to be a person respected by both the governing and opposition parties for his expertise and impartiality,” stated
