President Petr Pavel and his wife Eva will take part in the Země živítelka agrosalon in České Budějovice on Thursday. They will visit the presentation of regional food producers, the exposition of the State Agricultural and Intervention Fund (SZIF) and the South Bohemian Region, the presentation of the Food Chamber or the exhibition of modern trends in agriculture. Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) will also visit the event on Thursday.
“On Thursday, the President of the Republic Petr Pavel and Mrs. Eva Pavlová will visit the 50th edition of the International Agrosalon Země živitelka 2024. Part of their program will include a visit to the presentation of regional food producers, the exposition of the State Agricultural and Intervention Fund, the exposition of the South Bohemian Region, the presentation of the Food Chamber or the exhibition of modern trends in agriculture,” listed the castle on its website. The presidential couple will also meet with award-winning researchers, according to the Office of the President’s communications department.
Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) will also come to the exhibition, and at the event, among other things, he will speak at a press conference with the Minister of Defense Jana Černochová (ODS) and the Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík and the General Commissioner of the Czech participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka Ondřej Soška.
The České Budějovice Agrosalon turns 50 this year. Visitors will see a record number of pieces of technology and farm animals. From August 22 to 27, over 600 exhibitors and over 300 livestock will be on display.
Agrosalon Země zhivitelka was from the beginning the most visited agricultural exhibition in Czechoslovakia at the time and remains so even today. In history, only two editions were not held, in 2002, when the Czech Republic was hit by devastating floods, and during the covid pandemic. Last year, 111,886 people visited the Mother Earth in six days. 510,000 visitors came to the first exhibition in 1973, which lasted 16 days. The record number of people, 805,000, was in 1976.
