President of Union of Pharmacy Owners in Aguascalientes Criticizes Sale of Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines by Large Chains

Alfonso Contreras Campos, president of the Union of Pharmacy Owners in Aguascalientes, stated that small pharmacies are not involved in the sale of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, due to the specifications required for their handling and application.
Contreras Campos expressed concern about the distribution of the vaccine, a commitment that was initially assumed by the state government. He criticized the decision to allow large pharmaceutical chains to acquire and sell these vaccines, arguing that this task should be the responsibility of the federal government. «It is inappropriate that this has been left to the private sector. “Most small pharmacies do not comply with the necessary regulations and it is not convenient for them to participate in this,” he explained.
The president of the Union highlighted that, in his opinion, the majority of people already have sufficient protection thanks to the doses previously applied and suggested that the sale of the Pfizer vaccine be limited to high-risk patients, such as those with diabetes. or heart diseases.
Regarding the vaccines available through the health sector in the State, Contreras Campos affirmed that they have passed all quality controls, dismissing criticism about their effectiveness. “The vaccines offered by the health sector are of good quality and have passed all the necessary tests, according to Cofepris,” he assured.
Despite his reservations, Contreras Campos acknowledged that large pharmaceutical chains have experienced an increase in business due to demand for the COVID-19 vaccine.
