President of Ukraine Claims Russia Plans to Mobilize 300,000 New Troops by June 1

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia plans to mobilize 300,000 new troops by June 1.

He said this at a joint briefing with the President of Finland Alexandra Stubb in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

“I can say that Russia is preparing to mobilize 300,000 troops for June 1,” he said.

At the same time, the head of state noted that Ukraine does not currently need to call up 500,000 troopsas mentioned earlier, which became known after the inspection of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Alexander Sirsky.

Kyiv must mobilize another 500,000 troops

This was stated by Zelensky at a press conference for the end of 2023.

“At the moment, we do not need to mobilize half a million people. I am grateful to the commander-in-chief for the inspection. It is important that he found strength in the armed forces of Ukraine. The appropriate number of people who were not at the front will be at the front,” he noted the president.

At the same time, the head of state did not specify the number of people the state plans to mobilize this year.

“As for the number of people who will be mobilized, I am not yet ready to say,” added Zelensky.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence of the Verkhovna Rada has completed consideration of amendments to the draft law on mobilization.

The Ukrainian parliament will soon vote on the mobilization

The bill has already been considered by a committee

However, Russia denied Zelensky’s statement as false. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov, quoted by TASS.

“That is not true,” snapped Peskov.

Russia scored a significant jump in the number of people signing contracts for joining the armed forces after the deadly attack on a concert hall outside Moscow last month, the defense ministry said on Wednesday, as quoted by Reuters.

A statement said that more than 100,000 people have signed contracts with the military since the beginning of the year, including about 16,000 in the last 10 days alone.
