President of the Venezuelan Parliament calls Brazil’s behavior towards BRICS “offensive and rude” –

The president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, described this Friday as “offensive and rude” Brazil‘s behavior regarding vetoing Venezuela’s entry into the BRICS group (originally formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).

“Venezuela has always been generous, Venezuela has always been supportive and will continue to be so (…) but it is offensive, it is rude and it is a draggy position to have maintained an attitude that is in no way compatible with the climate, nor with the objectives, nor with the principles of that BRICS meeting,” said the parliamentarian during a work meeting in the state of Anzoátegui (east).

Rodríguez also pointed out that President Nicolás Maduro brought to the BRICS Summit, held in Russia, a position “that is consistent with the principle by which the BRICS was founded.”

“The position that has handled the remnants of Bolsonarism that we found in the Itamaraty Palace, in our sister Republic of Brazil, is shameful,” he stressed.

The president of Parliament trusted, meanwhile, that his country will maintain economic progress until it becomes “a medium power in the short term.” During the Summit, Brazil refused to allow Venezuela to join the list of countries associated with the bloc because “at this time” the relations between both countries “are not friendly.”
