The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Mezzola, condemned the smearing of the House of Europe with red paint and the raising of anti-European and homophobic posters during a march called “March for Peace” which included politicians from “Vazrazhdane” and BSP.
“The building that houses the office of the European Parliament in Sofia was attacked by vandals, dissatisfied with our stance in support of Ukraine. We will clean it up. Our support for Ukraine will become stronger. Our voice condemning the Russian invasion will become more stronger. #SlavaUkraini,” she tweeted.
On the same messaging platform, Ognyan Zlatev, head of the European Commission’s representation in Zagreb, expressed his position.
“This is the real Bulgaria and the Bulgarians are real Europeans,” he wrote alongside a photo showing a mother with a baby trying to clean the sign at the entrance to Rakovski Street in the capital.
