President of Malioboro, Umbu Landu Paranggi Died

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com– The sad news comes from the world of art, one of Indonesia’s literary figures, Umbu Landu Paranggi passed away, Tuesday (6/4/2021).

The poet nicknamed as President of Malioboro as well as a teacher for Emha Ainun Nadjib he died at 03.55 WITA.

The news was uploaded to the official Kenduri Cinta account.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun … Our grief, take you to the true huma Mr. Umbu Landu Paranggi,” wrote the account, quoted on Tuesday (6/4/2021).

“On Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 03.55 WITA at the Bali Mandara Hospital,” he wrote later.

President Maliboro’s tag finally became one of Twitter’s trending today, Tuesday (6/4/2021). Many netizens are sorry for the poet’s departure.

Umbu is nicknamed “the President of Malioboro”, Yogyakarta, because he fostered a community of artists in the area in the 1960s and 70s. He is Emha Ainun Nadjib’s teacher, Linus Suryadi AG, Korie Layun Rampan., “Wrote @ilhamkhoiri.
