The president of Federtennis: “I speak against my interests, but Jannik is different”
On the much talked about question of the presence of Jannik Sinner at the Festival of Sanremo the president of Federtennis also intervenes: “If Jannik went to Sanremo it would be a disappointment, I would be amazed – the words of Angelo Binaghi on the sidelines of the presentation of the 2023 Sport Report at the Foro Italico -. Everyone would go, but he is different. I speak against my own interests because Sinner in Sanremo would be a great promotion for us.”
Immediately after the Italian tennis player’s triumph at the Australian Open, rumors of a possibility began to emerge invitation to the Festivalwhich was then “officialized” by Amadeus through a video on his social channels: “You don’t have to sing or dance, you just have to get the standing ovation from the entire Ariston theater and a big round of applause from all the Italians”, the words of the host.
Amadeus himself, in a next posthe then clarified: “I invited Jannik thinking of interpreting the desire of millions and millions of Italians, but the important thing is his serenity and tranquility. Naturally I didn’t want to embarrass him. If he decides not to come I will understand , we will be sorry but nothing will change, we will always root for him because he is a true Italian pride.”
Binaghi, for his part, underlined the need to protect the young champion: “Meloni also told him that he should go, but he must be protected by everyone – the opinion of the Federation’s number one -. By the managers because he should not be exploited, from journalists and also from Sanremo. If we all together want to write a different story, we must protect him.”
